How Many Calories Exercise Burns
Show Description
If you have ever been curious how many calories an exercise burns, or which exercise is most effective for losing weight, you’re in luck, because in this video I am going to explore how many calories different types of home exercises burn..
To do this I’ll be using my fitbit, which tracks my heart rate and calculates how many calories are burned. For each exercise, I will perform it for ten minutes and determine how many calories were burnt. Before testing a new exercise, I’ll rest and let my heart rate return to normal before proceeding to the next exercise..
So let’s get to it..
First I wanted to establish a 10 minutes resting baseline. While sitting and doing nothing for ten minutes, I burn 16 calories..
The first exercise tested was Jumping Jacks. After 10 minutes of doing jumping jacks, I got my heart rate up to 137 and burnt a total of 115 calories..
The next exercise tested was Jump Rope, which is touted as one of the best cardio exercises. After ten minutes of skipping the rope, I got my heart rate up to 149 I burnt a total of 148 calories..
Now for my least favorite exercise, running. 10 minutes of running my heart rate got up to 180 burnt 173 calories..
And now for my favorite exercises, walking. 10 minutes of walking, my heart rate got up to 110 and burnt 96 calories..
Stairs was the next exercise I tested. 10 minutes of stairs my heart rate got up to 152 and I burnt 161 calories..
Finally the last cardio exercises I tested are Burpees. After 10 long agonizing minutes of burpees, my heart rate got to 142 and I was able to burn 137 calories..
For fun I included doing 100 pushups over the course of 10 minutes. This only burnt 69 calories.
I also included 100 bodyweight squats over the course of 10 minutes, this burnt 82 calories..
So from best to worst exercise for burning calories.
Running 173 calories in 10 minutes.
Stairs 161 calories in 10 minutes.
Jumping Rope 148 calories in 10 minutes.
Burpees 137 calories in 10 minutes.
Jumping Jacks 115 calories in 10 minutes.
Walking 96 calories in 10 minutes.
100 Squats in 10 minutes 82 calories.
100 Pushups in 10 minutes 69 calories
