Chokchai miracle coin consecration draws large crowd in Kamphaeng Phet (2025)

A significant turnout was observed at Wat Nam Dib as devotees gathered for the consecration ceremony, known as Phutthaphisek, of the Wat Nam Dib temple’s latest amulet, the Chokchai miracle coin.

The ceremony, led by Phra Khru Phalat “Chokchai” Chaiwuttho, drew a large crowd of disciples and admirers, highlighting the amulet’s popularity. The event took place at the Boonphakdee Buddhist Hall of Wat Chetawanaram, located in Nong Pling subdistrict, Mueang district, Kamphaeng Phet province, yesterday, April 27.

The Phutthaphisek ceremony lasted over three hours and included the participation of nine monks from Wat Bo Sam Saen and Wat Nam Dib, who recited prayers in a solemn atmosphere. Presiding over the ceremony was Chokchai, who performed the ritual of invoking blessings while seated on a platform surrounded by traditional weapons, as per ancient texts.

Following the ceremony, attendees from Kamphaeng Phet and other regions eagerly lined up to receive the revered Chokchai miracle coins. The event was so well-attended that temple committee members had to organise the distribution queues.

Some 500 coins were distributed to the public. As is customary, coin collectors and enthusiasts were quick to offer purchases for these amulets.

The standard copper coins were bought for 300 baht (US$9) each, while those with a silver mask fetched 1,500 baht (US$45). The most sought-after were the gold mask coins, which were valued at 5,000 baht (US$150) each.

Additionally, lottery enthusiasts took the opportunity to examine the ritual water and incense numbers used during the ceremony, hoping for a stroke of luck in the upcoming draw. The popularity of the event and the high demand for the amulets underscore the strong faith and belief in the blessings associated with these sacred objects, reported KhaoSod.

In similar news, during the expansion of a large water reservoir in Phetchabun province, an ancient Takian tree, believed to be over 1,000 years old, was uncovered by an excavator.

The find quickly drew the attention of locals, prompting a medium to perform a ceremonial invitation, naming the tree spirit Chao Mae Ngam Thong, and sparking a hunt for lucky numbers associated with the discovery.
